"Submit to God, and you will have peace, then things will go well for you. Listen to His instructions, and store them in your heart." Job 22:21-22 (NLT)In search of Peace?
Another translation of the above scripture is: "Agree with God, and be at peace......" (NRSV).
In order for us to agree-be in accord- with God: (1) We must know what God is saying! (2) We must choose to believe what He is saying.
In our walk with God, we must make choices DAILY. Here, the choice is to agree or to disagree. When life is good and all is well, being in accord with God comes easy. But in the midst of trials, when times are rough, when temptations arise or when we face heartache and loss- it is decision making time! What will we do? How will we respond? Will we choose faith or emotions?
We all know Job's story. He was considered by God to be blameless. But, Satan was sure that if all the "good things" Job had were suddenly taken away then he would curse God. (Job 1:6-11). Now can you imagine the same conversation going on between our Heavenly Father and our adversary but on instead of Job----- the one being considered is YOU!!!!
The enemy is sure that given just the right struggle you will walk away from God. He is counting on the fact that if the trial is severe enough you will give up and give in to negative emotion. Satan is watching us- God's people. He is patrolling--watching everything that goes on (Job 1:7). He gets upset and irritated when we are walking in righteousness. He wants us defeated. But God is for us! The Almighty has dominion over Satan. The enemy can not touch us without God's permission and our Protector never leaves you wide open to Satan's attacks. He sets limits! (Job 1:12) That is all the more reason why we should cling to God in faith.
Knowing God's character through His Word and our personal experience with Him is our constant reminder of His faithfulness us. He is our strength and help at all times---especially in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). God will never fail us. This truth offers comfort and peace . God is ever present and He causes everything we go through to work together for our good. That's a Promise!
Dear God! You are my Redeemer and I know that you live. I choose to trust you no matter the situation. I will keep my thoughts fixed on you and receive your "Perfect" peace! In Jesus' Name. Amen
