God's GPS

"This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Host." Zechariah 4:6

As I sat last night, preparing to write this blog, I had everything in place for a smooth, uneventful entry: my notes, my computer and a quiet spot. I was ready to begin! Or, so I thought. I started to write but things were not going according to plan. I was attempting to write on the topic that I had chosen but it was not coming together as I thought it should. So I stopped. Then, I started. I stopped again. Then I started again. See the pattern? At last, I just STOPPED. Feeling overwhelmed and defeated by my work I decided to just put it away until later. As I prayed, I asked God if this was what I was supposed to be doing and if so why was it turning out to be so difficult. When I woke up this morning, He gave me the above scripture. Wow! What a revelation! I was trying to do something for His Glory (good) on my own strength (not so good).

God was telling me to turn on and follow His GPS... How often do we start on our daily journey , traveling life's road thinking we have everything is place for a smooth ride. We jump into our daily routine, buckled in for whatever comes our way. Only to find ourselves running into the detours of attitudes, road blocks of deadlines, and constructions sites of problems, trials and heartaches. We can even find ourselves lost or at a dead end ready to give up. Why? Because we have not turned on God's GPS. So, we start. Then we stop. We may start again, then, we may stop. And some times we even give up on things God has set in place for us to do because we have tried to go at it on our own.

God is reminding us with this scripture to turn on and follow His navigation system that leads us in our life with Him- His Holy Spirit! In all that we do, say or set out to accomplish in this life- no matter how big or small- we must acknowledge God. Without God and His Spirit's guidance we are on the road to nowhere. We are created by God for His purpose. He knows the plan He has for our lives. We can not see what lies ahead for us but if we follow God's guidance by the Spirit, we will arrive successfully at our destination!

"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

Dear Heavenly Father, this day and everyday, let everything I do start with your inspiration, continue with your guidance and end with your blessing. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
