Spiritual Workout (part 2)

"Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come" 1 Timothy 4:8 (NLT)

Prayer: Spiritual "Cardio"

A physical cardio routine promotes a healthy "strong" heart.... it boost metabolism... helps you to lose weight... reduces stress... increases energy... promotes restful sleep!

Those benefits are similar to what a healthy prayer life does for the heart! Through prayer our spirit is boosted... we are able to shed... lose... reduce the weight of daily living... relieve or eliminate stress.... rest peacefully- knowing that we have cast our cares on our God who is always there... listening... caring...
Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.
1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)

As we pray, the heart is pumping... the Spirit- like blood- is flowing... as God's relief for our hearts flow in.... our worries... stress... anxieties... frustrations... confessed sins... are carried away!
Therefore, let all the godly pray to You while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgement. For You are my hiding place; You protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory.
Psalm 32:6-7 (NLT)

Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a loyal spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10 (NLT)

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what
God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God's own will.
Romans 8:26-27 (NLT)

The commitment to prayer as part of our training in godliness cleanses our hearts... we are able to release... confess... our sins and be delivered... renewed... restored! A clean heart provides a place for God's spirit to dwell... and flow through the rest of our body- causing it to function according to the will of God!
Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 (NLT)
