Spiritual Workout (part 1)

"Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come." 1 Timothy 4:8 (NLT)

Reading and Studying the Bible:

Physical fitness and nutrition go hand-in-hand...
Nutrition- food.... the right quality.... the right quantity- is vital to any physical fitness or training routine. It provides the sustenance... the fuel... the energy that our bodies need to function... to thrive at its maximum potential! When we deprive our bodies by missing meals or consuming the wrong things- we are left drained... fatigued... slothful!

The same is true for our spiritual bodies.... consuming the right "food" is an essential part of living a godly life. The Bible is our spiritual source of nutrition.... it is the our source of spiritual energy.... the food by which we live....

Yes, He humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Deuteronomy 8:3 (NLT)

We know that God is the Word.... the Bible is the source by which we are "fed".... it is the basis... the foundation... the groundwork for a healthy spiritual life. A committed life to reading and studying God's Word... His instructions... provides the nutrients and nourishment for spiritual fitness.... growth and maturity!

Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness.
1 Peter 2:2 (NLT)

So, let us not deprive our spiritual bodies.... let's avoid becoming spiritually malnourished by taking in a healthy dose of our "daily bread".... God's truth.... His Word!

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
