wings like eagles!

I woke up this morning and my first thoughts were of all the requirements this day would hold. All the work- the tasks and duties on "my list" that had to be done. Just the thought of it drained me even before I got out of bed.... before my feet hit the floor.... before the first thing had been checked off! I began to pray to God to renew and refresh me.... "Lord", I said, "I have so much to do today but mentally, physically.... I don't see how I can get it all done!" What a way to start the day!

Then I received a daily inspiration text from my spiritual mentor. It was titled "A Passion for Life". The accompanying scripture was Isaiah 40:31.

Well, to just give you an idea of my lack of focus, I instead read Isaiah 40:30:
Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion.

Wow!!!! I thought to myself this is speaking directly to me... God is really responding to me.... and fast! It says right here in the scripture that I "can/will" get tired!!!!! It's OK! I can take a break for today!

But as I was meditating on that particular scripture (Isaiah 40:30) something kept directing me to go back and read the preceding scripture and the one after! And when I did.... I had a new outlook.... His real message to me!

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. (v29 NLT)

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. (v 31 NLT)

So NO.... God had not given me an excuse..... a reason to slack for the day as I had tried to convince myself! Instead He was reassuring me... encouraging me to move.... even if it was at a slower pace.... trusting in Him... knowing that He is the true source of my strength!

God is concerned about every aspect of our lives.... even our exhaustion. When we find ourselves fatigued spiritually.... mentally.... physically we must know that God will provide for our EVERY need.... when we trust in Him to do so!

Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him, and He will help you
Psalm 37:5 (NLT)

For I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13 (NLT)

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19 (NLT)

* Whatever we face... we are sustained not by any external power that may vary but by the constant supply of the life of Christ Jesus flowing into our life. Being sustained by Jesus means walking daily- even moment by moment- in His Spirit! (taken from a footnote in "Discover God" study Bible)
