"Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to Me again, strengthen your brothers." Luke 22:32 (NLT)Caught Up! In doing good works for the sake of our Almighty God! That does not seem possible. Does it? There can be no sin in doing good!!!!! Right? Think about it!
Sinning and doing good deeds just doesn't seem to go hand in hand, does it? When we think of sin, we think of open rebellion against God and His law. So how can we sin and do good? Well, we know that anything that causes offense against God is SIN! And when we begin to reverence our "good works" instead of God, we fall short.
Doing the good deed or work is not the sin---I want to make that clear! But when our focus is not God FIRST- acknowledging and seeking Him for guidance in all that we do- that is what opens us up to sin......
And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. Colossians 3:17
The enemy is seeking to attack us in any area of our lives that is left uncovered, unprotected, not submitted or committed to God.... He seeks to "sift" each of us and use even our good works against us.
When we fail to commit our actions, deeds and work to God- it becomes just that- WORK. And just like any other work, we can experience burn out, fatigue, irritation and frustration. The enemy can then take our good works and cause them to seem like a chore..... Thus taken away the honor that we would give to God our Father! Satan will make us so busy "working" that we forget about God. We can get so caught up in"doing" that we may neglect our personal time with GOD- which is so vital to our refreshing, renewing, restoring and refueling!!! Even more, the enemy has a way of attaching pride to the good things we do.... causing us to believe that we are somehow "self righteous" in our doing! In all things, his mission is to destroy- by any means.
But God know that we stumble- even in our good! So in His Son, He has given us a mediator. Jesus understands and knows all of our weaknesses. He stands in prayer to His Father on our behalf. So when we pray to God, in the name of Jesus- committing all our way to Him- He protects us...... even in our "good deeds".
Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him, and He will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. Psalm 37:5-6 (NLT)
Heavenly Father, in all that we do, let it be done as unto you. That you may be glorified in all of our actions. We pray in Jesus' Name. Amen!
